Through the generous donations of gently used items by the community at large, we are able to meet the needs of our more marginalized members. The unsheltered and those who have fallen on hard times, for a variety of reasons, are the most vulnerable among us. Community Through Hope meets their needs with dignity and a respectful attitude. Often, they are used to being invisible and treated as ‘less than’. Our desire is to provide, love and support without judgement. To that end, we have a Donation Center whose items are used in a variety of ways.
VOUCHERS
Through our Voucher Program, CTH allows partnering agencies to offer their clients access to free clothing and household items. Often, clients are moving into or out of a rehabilitation facility, and are in need of clothing for their next step. Perhaps a client needs suitable attire for an upcoming job interview. We are able to supply some household goods for those who are being newly housed. Often, they lack the basic necessities for setting up housekeeping. We usually try to include a few cleaning supplies and soaps.
DAY OF HOPE
Donations are used to fill bins of clothing for men and women who are currently living on the streets. The garments are sorted and sized according to gender and type. The bins are loaded onto a truck and taken to the monthly Day of Hope venue and distributed to our clients. Once they have had a shower and a haircut, a fresh set of clothing is just the ticket.
HOPE CHEST BOUTIQUE
The Hope Chest is the sales arm of the Donation Center. From the donations, we select better quality goods for sale in our Boutique. We call it a Boutique based on the diminutive size of our store, and the sale of unique and sometimes designer items. Hopefully, in the future we will have a larger space in which to add decorator items and furniture. The proceeds from the store help pay our overhead and finance the mission of our program. See the Bulletin Board and our Facebook page for more information.
